Windows IPT Installation and SSL Configuration

Hello everyone, I have an IPT installation on a Windows box that is working fine, but I'd like to enable SSL and I'm having trouble figuring out the necessary configuration tweaks. Is there anyone out there that is also running IPT on Windows with a configuration similar to mine (Windows Server 2012, Apache Tomcat 8.5, IIS 8.5, BonCode Apache Tomcat AJP 1.3 Connector) that can help walk me through the necessary Tomcat/BonCode/IIS changes? IPT: bringing you up to date

Hi IPT users, This being my last day as IPT product manager (and last day at the GBIF Secretariat), I just wanted to take this opportunity to say goodbye and share some important points to bring you more up to date about the IPT: * A new and even more secure version (2.3.5) of the IPT is available for download[1]. Updating to this version will provide added protection against potential cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks. As usual, update instructions can be found in the IPT Release Notes[2]. * A growing number of trusted IPT data hosting centres[3] are popping up around the world. These meet a strict set of criteria and provide reliable and free data hosting support. If you struggle to maintain your IPT installation, using a data hosting centre could save you significant time and money. * In July, a fantastic demo video showing how to use the IPT was added to the IPT library[4]. This video is featured as part of the short and concise IPT how-to publish guide[5], designed to get new publishers up to speed as fast as possible. * The IPT has been translated into Persian by a single devoted and hard-working volunteer. This will make the IPT available in eight languages, but it still needs more reviewing before it can be released[6]. If you are fluent in Persian, please consider joining the IPT translator team. It's easy to join following these instructions[7]. * For those interested in tracking the IPT's growth story, you can check out the newly added statistics page in IPT wiki[8]. I move on now in my career in search of new and exciting products to help develop. It has been an honor to serve the IPT community and truly amazing for me to watch IPT usage explode these last years. deployment question

Hello, I've setup some high availability for our hosted IPTs here. Basically I have two machines on which two VM-like (FreeBSD jails) have been created in which all hosted IPT are installed (along with Tomcat 8, OpenJDK 8). The IPT data directory is shared (NFS) through the two instances, and in front of those instances HAProxy is configured to dispatch the requests in an active/passive mode which means that only one Tomcat is accessed at time. If the primary Tomcat dies then the secondary take over. It seems to work well, but I'd like some feedback from IPT devs regarding potential problems that I might have missed (if any). I'm especially thinking about caching/locking issues and/or possible corruption of the IPT data directory (which IMHO should not occur if one instance if accessed at a time, but want to be sure). Planned outages of GBIF.org / TDWG.org

Dear all, Our apologies in advance, but we expect disruptions in both GBIF and TDWG services next week, Thursday and Friday, 22-23 June 2017. Partial outages may occur while we relocate the servers for GBIF's and TDWG's systems to a new data centre within the University of Copenhagen. During this move, we anticipate that GBIF.org, demo.GBIF.org and the GBIF API will continue to operate on temporary servers, though user account creation, dataset registration and dataset crawling will all be temporarily suspended. The TDWG website and all TDWG mailing lists are likely to remain offline throughout the outage. We apologize for any inconvenience and will strive to reduce the disruption and its duration as much as possible. Best wishes, Tim

IPT upgrade

Hello, We have a bunch of IPT's installed here and in order to automate IPT upgrades I'd like to know if it's enough to just create the missing $ROOT/WEB-INF/datadir.location once the WAR has been updated? I'm asking this because I have 8 IPT instances and it becomes tedious (and I'm lazy) to go through all th 8 web interfaces just to enter the IPT datadir on every upgrade .. Thanks! New version 2.3.4 with security update

Dear IPT users, This is an important message. IPT administrators should update their IPTs to the new version 2.3.4 available for download here<http://repository.gbif.org/content/groups/gbif/org/gbif/ipt/2.3.4/ipt-2.3.4…> [1], which has a security update. Note this version requires Java8 to run and instructions on how to upgrade to this version can be found in the Release Notes<https://github.com/gbif/ipt/wiki/IPTReleaseNotes233.wiki> [2]. The security update fixes a critical vulnerability<https://struts.apache.org/docs/s2-045.html> [3] that has been discovered in the Apache Struts web framework, which the IPT uses. According to this article<http://thehackernews.com/2017/03/apache-struts-framework.html> [4], this is a remote code execution vulnerability that could allow hackers to execute malicious commands on the IPT server. It also says that hackers are actively exploiting this vulnerability. If you don't have time to update your IPT immediately, I would advise you to take it offline until you can. Registering a new data provider

I administer an IPT and would like to publish a checklist on the IPT that comes from a university in another country. How can we register that organisation as the origin of the data?
