Dear Greg, John, Shyama, Varos, Quentin and Dmitry
I have discussed GEO BONs activities with some of you. I have taken the
liberty of listing our 'gap analysis' project - to be led by Greg - as a
project under GEOBON's activities on developing the Species Distributions
EBV (SD_EBV) -- there is a specific invasions activity that forms part the
work of this group.
The only implications of listing the project here is that everyone knows we
are doing the work, we can benefit by the networks and links involved and
take advantage/piggy back on GEO BON meetings etc (we will acknowledge them
too). In this way we are aligning our work with the greater cause. Quentin,
Dmitry and Donald are already involved with GEO BON - as is GBIF. Once the
work is done, we also get to distribute via GEO BON channels.
The doc hasn't been circulated yet, so let me know if you have any
concerns. I have also added you to the Species Populations/SD_EBV mailing
list so that you will receive a copy of the relevant document, provide
input and become part of the community. PLEASE let me know if you would
prefer me to take your name off the list - we can do so at any point.
Many thanks

Dear Task Group
I have sent the final version of the report and appendix to Dmitry and his
team for formatting - you can see these dates 12 November on the G Drive if
you want to, although no further changes will be made unless critical.
Greg pointed out that we had not included anything in the report about our
plans and planned papers/analysis going forward. Because the report will be
made public I thought it would be best not to commit ourselves to anything
in the report - also because our mandate as a TG ends with submission of
the report. However, we do want to inform GBIF about these activities so I
have summarised them in the cover letter that will be submitted with the
report.
Attached is the draft cover letter if you would like to give any input on
it.
Almost there now
Many thanks

Dear Task Group
Many thanks for all your comments and edits on the two documents. I will
take them offline for a final read before sending the docs to Dmitry
tomorrow, i.e. I'll take them offline in about 14 hours from now.
You are welcome to e-mail me if you still intend to do any edits

Dear all
The next version of the final report is on the G Drive with 1 November
date. I haven't had time to do as much as I would have liked to, but it is
pretty much there now I think. Still working on the Appendix B document -
I'll let you know once its up as well.
Thanks

Dear Greg, John, Shyama, Varos, Quentin and Dmitry
I am busy working on the final report and appendix documents off line. I
plan to upload the next version in the next 2 days for your final comment.
In the mean time I have e-mailed a few of you with specific questions or
for areas that still need to be completed.
So the plan is:
3 November - I upload the complete draft for your final comments (hopefully
minor)
3-5 November - the team edits/finalises the document online (GDrive)
6 November - I will take the doc offline again, finish it up and send it to
Dmitry for the communication team to format.
Let me know if this is k, and e-mail me any additional material or changes
that you may have in the mean time.
Quentin, please could you add your Oxalis picture with a legend to the same
folder as the logo link that Dmitry sent.
Muchas gracias

Hi all,
I have now uploaded the institution logos I got from John to this folder:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BzrSPi8wkHZ8WTBFWUM5dGJtbEU
Please upload yours directly to this folder (drag and drop files from the original folder to the folder space or folder icon), or e-mail them to me, if this does not work.
I hope we can fix the remaining outstanding issues soon and close the content so I can give to GBIF Communications for formatting and copy editing.
Once done, you would have a chance to go through the formatted text and a slide doc (it helps to see the familiar text in a new packaging) before is published online and the GBIF news channels start advertising it. We need to remember to send it to all survey respondents. There is a chance to silently fix minor bugs also after the online publication, but I hope we won't use this opportunity too much.
To ease the life for readers, I suggest the appendices will come in reverse order - this way we can make the main, narrative report plus table (currently appendix B) come together, and then a slide doc will be a separate file.
Thanks,
Dmitry
Morning/evening all
Many thanks for the edits that are busy coming in. Just a quick note to say
don't be concerned if you see some of your edit boxes disappear. I am busy
accepting all the minor edits you are making as we go along so that the doc
doesn't look too cluttered and so that we can better see the comments left
that we still need tor resolved.

Dear John, Shyama, Varos, Greg, Quentin and Dmitry
I have created a new folder called FINAL REPORT DRAFTS on the G Drive:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_uojZ1Ob6CzcE1TOF9tMEhlT1U
In this folder are two documents for your inputs and editing:
1. A draft of the final report
2. A draft of Appendix B (Dmitry will provide Appendix A as the survey
details)
A few points:
1. I have collated, rationalised and inserted the recommendation tables
into the word document of the draft report. As a result these will look a
bit different to the versions you last saw and edited (I hope I have
captured every ones' latest tables correctly!). I have inserted names next
to each of these sections where I think your input will be valuable (this
could be a different section to the one you originally worked on).
2. Throughout the doc I have identified places where input is needed from
each of you. However please do read the document through and provide text
and edits wherever you would like to.
3. This round is essentially for completing content. Don't worry about
formatting. Please do add key references that clearly support some of the
main points made.
4. If you make changes to the figs please don't do this in the document -
edit the raw version and upload the revision into this new folder. Please
send Shyama, Dmitry and Greg any suggested fig edits directly.
*I am sure that you are all back to being focussed on your primary
responsibilities, so thank you very much for bearing with us to get the
report done.*
If you could complete the first round of review by the 24th that would be
great. I'll then finalise it, ask Dmitry and team for help with formatting
and then send it back to you for any last edits.
Muchas gracias

Morning all
Many thanks for your e-mails with text and clarification of final sets of
recommendations.
I've placed a powerpoint on taxonomic uncertainty from Arthur Chapman on
the G drive, and will also include the report on the data quality
discussion when they send it through.
I'll be in touch with any specific queries or follow up.
In the mean time, many thanks again for the enjoyable, stimulating
discussion in Melbourne. I do hope you all had smooth travels home.
