Help to use the documentation layout and the nice left menu

Dear all, I have been trying to use the documentation layout as seen at the base theme (https://hp-base-theme.gbif-staging.org/layout/documentation), it looks perfect for long and complex documents but I haven't been able to make it work. I do get the right navigation menu in this and any other layout using toc: true, but not the left navigation menu which is the most interesting feature of this theme. I tried to emulate the .md of the theme ( https://github.com/gbif/jekyll-hp-base-theme/edit/master/pages/layout/docum…) and played around with several options such as permatlink: , sidebar:, and bringing external docs with the option {% include_relative xxxx.md %} but It did not work. For the available examples, I think that probably the left navigation menu needs to be configured externally. How can I make proper use of the documentation layout? How can I configure the left navigation menu? Thank you Morten for your reply, I see you have thought about it in depth and your arguments are very strong, a neet responsiveness is a must, especially when many people use cell phones and tablets to look for these types of written content. Options 1 and 2 will work for us. Add more social media links to the footer

Dear all, The base them has twitter and github as default social media, we try to add facebook and youtube following the default formula: twitter_username: sibcolombia facebook_username: SibColombia github_username: SiBColombia youtube_username: sibcolombia But it doesn't work, It keeps showing only twitter and github. How can we add facebook and youtube or any other relevant social media links? How to add hyperlinks to a document's internal sections

Dear all, We are creating content in markdown and we came across an issue while trying to add hyperlinks to a document's internal sections. When in Markdown the hyperlink works but in the portal it stops working. [Cuando se trate de la descarga de una consulta de datos](#Cuando-se-trate-de-la-descarga-de-una-consulta-de-datos) For example: when in the Markdown Github preview we can click on the hyperlink... ....and It redirects to the respective title/section within the same document: ( https://github.com/gbif/hp-colombian-biodiversity/blob/master/recursos/Como… ) But in the portal we get a dead link: ( https://hp-colombian-biodiversity.gbif-staging.org/recursos/ComoCitar#Cuand… ) Then, Which is the correct way to address hyperlinks to a document's internal sections? Dear all, We have a question about the menu structure set at _config.yml, It is possible to add a landing page to the name of the dropdown menu? For example, we would like to add the option to click in Layouts ( https://hp-base-theme.gbif-staging.org/) and open a page, for that we tried using the following structure, and other variants, but it didn't work: - text: Name *href: /Name* menu: # Dropdown menu (one level deep only) - text: ... Halfway through phase 1

Dear all, We are now halfway through our first 6-week period in the hosted portals pilot phase and starting to see some great progress. We will aim to have our next group call in the week of 1 March. Focus for this first 6-week period As we explained during our group call, the goal for these first 6 weeks is that you are all able to edit and add your content to the template portals we set up for you, including: - Text pages - Configuring your menu structure - Images - Branding - Translations when needed As you progress with this, we are collecting bug and feature requests related to the website and content building. You are also welcome to log issues related to the occurrence explorer, but it is not the main focus at this stage. Hi everyone, My name is Wayne, I am working with Bradley Myer, David Moverly and others who are involved in the hosted portal from Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) for Pacific Countries and Territories. We are in the process of setting up our hosted portal same as everyone. Currently, we are trying to upload a banner or main background image that would represent all the Pacific countries and territories as a theme. I would like to ask if there is any specific dimension of the banner or main background image that is required to be uploaded on to the portal? Specifications that would help provide a better quality and resolution once it is uploaded so that, our graphic designers team can start. Looking forward to hear from everyone. regards, Wayne. Asera
