[IPT] Registering a new data provider

Thanks Quentin

It makes good sense to offer the hosting service. The data will be attributed correctly to Düzce and Meise crediting with offering the technical host.
The Node Manager Committee will surely endorse the Düzce University, so could you please fill in the form on http://www.gbif.org/publishing-data/request-endorsement to start that process?

If things develop in the future, and Turkey join GBIF the data can easily be relocated to a national repository or similar if necessary.

Thanks,
Tim

Subject: Re: [IPT] Registering a new data provider

Hi Tim,
the university is Düzce University in Turkey and my contact is Prof. Ahmet Uludağ (in CC). He is leading the publication on the checklist of the Alien Flora of Turkey. The idea is to publish the checklist at the same time in the Neobiota Journal and on GBIF.
As there is no Turkish GBIF node is it a good solution to host the publication in the IPT of the Botanic Garden Meise, or are there better solutions?
Regards
Quentin

Hi Quentin,

I hope you are well.

Registration of organisations is something managed in the GBIF registry. Once registered an IPT administrator can add the organisation in their IPT (see the admin section) which requires the organisation password.

If the university is already registered in GBIF we can give you the password now if you let us know which it is (http://www.gbif.org/publisher/search)

If not, can you please fill this form which will trigger the endorsement process? Once the Node manager of the country or the Node Managers Committee endorse the dataset we can give you the password.

The reason this endorsement step exists is to ensure the appropriate connections are made within the country. For example the Node manager might wish to reach out and discuss e.g. support services.

Best wishes,
Tim

I administer an IPT and would like to publish a checklist on the IPT that comes from a university in another country. How can we register that organisation as the origin of the data?

Quentin
