Dear Renato,

I’m glad to hear that you are upgrading from 2.0.3, which is three and a half years old and contains a number of security vulnerabilities.

Since you are moving to a new server, I’d recommend that you install an IPT 2.2 in test mode on the new server to make sure that everything is working fine before performing the upgrade.

After you are confident that your test installation is working fine, I’d recommend you follow these steps:
familiarise yourself with the warnings listed in the Upgrade instructions[1].
be absolutely certain to backup your data directory
copy the data directory over to the new server and make sure it has the right permissions[2] (e.g. Tomcat has permissions on this directory if you are running Tomcat).
make sure that the IPT’s base URL on the new server will be the same as the IPT's base URL on the old server. Otherwise, you will have to update the base URL in the ipt.properties file located inside the data directory’s /conf folder.
follow the Starting Over instructions[3], entering the path to your data directory (not the data directory of your test installation).
Hopefully everything goes smoothly. Best of luck,

PS: It is highly recommended to update your servlet container and Java versions on your new server if you haven’t done so already. Detailed instructions on how to prepare your IPT server with a servlet container be found in the IPT wiki[4].

The previous IPT has several datasets and some are Data papers and obviously all user settings, configuration, etc. I will do a new installation on a new server and need the data directory are also in the same server.
