Hi Akshat,
as things are there is not much else you can do but to do moderate parallel calls to our API.
Feel free to leave a feature request issue through our portal feedback (upper right) e.g. being able to batch count a list of names.

Thanks,
Markus

Hi Markus,
I have like 50,000 scientific names and I'm running them through the API to get a count of each name's occurrence.
So I do this iteratively and it's taking a lot of time.
Is there a way to speed this up ?
Also, if I run this for a long period of time, it terminates the connection to the API

Thanks,
Akshat

Hi Akshat,

there is no rate limit to the main API. If you are planning on hammering it real badly please give us a short notice when and how so we can monitor it.
The only throttled area are occurrence downloads which need authentication. These are queued and downloads from the same users are sequentially.
Search requests have a deep paging limit documented on our site.

Enjoy,
Markus
