Myriatrix Scratchpad conversion to Living Atlas

Dear colleagues, As some of you may know, the Natural History Museum of London has decided to stop supporting the virtual research environment Scratchpads, as the underlying Drupal 7 is coming to its end of life and the NHM does not have the resources to migrate Scratchpads to a newer Drupal version. Since 2019, I have put a lot of effort into the Myriatrix Scratchpad ( https://myriatrix.myspecies.info/), dedicated to the Myriapoda and Onychophora of the world. I would like to continue maintaining the database and keeping it accessible online. Would it be possible for the Atlas of Living Australia / Living Atlases community to support me with converting Myriatrix into a Living Atlas? I will be happy to contribute back, e. g., with updated classifications (taxonomic backbones) for Myriapoda and Onychophora in the other Living Atlases. Kind regards, Carlos Carlos A. Thanks Carlos, I suggest we add this to our agenda to discuss in our meeting on Monday. Markus and I would like to understand your overall data management and we can then explain what tools might be a good fit to explore. Vicente, we’re meeting at 14:00 Monday – please ping me on slack if you would like to join that. In case it is of use, the tool on ALA/Living Atlas side for scratchpad-like functionality is what we call “Profiles”. https://profiles.ala.org.au/ https://profiles.ala.org.au/opus/foa/profile/Trichomanes%20caudatum This allows users to add descriptive information about taxa and is intended to provide some of the tools a taxonomic workbench might consist of. I don’t think any LA instance outside of ALA is using Profiles currently. It is also worth noting its dependent on a number of other services being setup (occurrences stack, taxon services etc). Hi Dave, Yes, it is of use, thanks! I do use the Taxon Description content type in Myriatrix. A very nice feature in the Scratchpads taxon descriptions is that if a bibliographic reference is already in the internal database, just citing its unique number with a so-called "bib tag" or "citekey" will automatically build that reference and others into a reference list at the end of each free text field, in a standard format. See example for *Scolopendra gigantea* Linnaeus, 1758, fields "General description" and "Distribution": https://myriatrix.myspecies.info/taxonomy/term/9017/descriptions Internally, there is no "References" section written. One just writes like this: See Kraepelin (1903: 233 <https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/29551367> )[bib]308[/bib], Attems (1930: 39-40)[bib]303[/bib], Shelley & Kiser (2000: 160-161)[bib]1913[/bib], Shelley (2006: 26)[bib]251[/bib], and Lewis (2016: 24, Table 1)[bib]1229[/bib]. ... and the software does the rest.
