From ruifigueira at isa.ulisboa.pt Wed Sep 26 12:07:38 2018 From: ruifigueira at isa.ulisboa.pt (Rui Figueira) Date: Wed, 26 Sep 2018 11:07:38 +0100 Subject: [IPT] migrate dataset from one IPT to another Message-ID: <7d2ac9c4-fcb9-292a-184b-62073d89e3db@isa.ulisboa.pt> Dear IPT list, We want to migrate several datasets from http://maerua.iict.pt/ipt to http://ipt.gbif.pt. The datasets are already registered with GBIF, and there will be no change of the publishing organisation. We are thinking in transferring the resources to the new host IPT by importing the DwC-A from the old IPT. The questions is how to publish the datasets in the new hosting IPT, without creating a duplication in the GBIF registration? I tried to find a solution for this in https://github.com/gbif/ipt/wiki/FAQ.wiki, but none of the answers seems to apply. Thanks, Rui -- Rui Figueira Coordenador do N? This is not a documented procedure, but I believe it should be possible with the following: a) Backup both IPT data directories so we can revert things if it goes wrong b) Ensure that the user accounts associated with the source datasets are present in the target IPT c) Ensure that the organisation accounts associated with the source datasets are present in the target IPT d) Ensure that the extensions used from the source IPT are installed and available in the target IPT e) Copy the directories for each data resource from the source IPT data directory to the target IPT data directory f) Restart the target IPT and verify all datasets appear correct in the IPT (they should continue to show the correct link to the GBIF.org site too) g) Notify GBIF helpdesk of the change in URL for datasets that have been migrated and we will manually update them in the registry Please let us know how this pans out.
