Hello,
I was wondering, ¿why is that there is no "rightHolder" field on the Simple Images extension?
Is there a 'formal' way to add this field?
I need to share some images but, I need to specify "Who" is giving the images under "license".
Hi Aurelio, we thought the creator, publisher & contributor of an image is enough information. But if there is a need to add dc:rightsHolder we can surely do so. I guess the rightsHolder is different from the creator or publisher in some cases?

Hi Markus,

I guess the rightsHolder is different from the creator or publisher in some cases?
mmm, I'm lost here.
picture this:
1. I paid a friend of mine (Fred) to take pictures (Creator: Fred, Rights Holder: me) 2. I share the pictures with CC-BY-SA-NC license (Creator: Fred, Publisher: me, Rights Holder: me, license: CC-BY-SA-NC) 3. Jim (a web developer) use my picture on a website and then share the images of his website. (Creator: Fred, Publisher: Jim, Rights Holder: ¿me/Jim?, license: CC-BY-SA-NC)
Should this two fields be the same? or after sharing Images under a CC license the Rights Holder is always the Publisher? how could I manage the "BY" part of the license when sharing images using this extension?
(I think I need a lawyer and turn off my "corner case" imagination).
To give a concrete example:
http://nrs.harvard.edu/urn-3:FMUS.HUH:s16-50376-303543-3 is an image of a specimen in the Harvard University Herbaria.
The following metadata apply:
Creator: D.Smiley Publisher: Harvard University Herbaria Rights Holder: President and Fellows of Harvard College

well, considering that we also have rightsHolder already in the description extension I took the liberty to add it to the images extension just now. It should be available for mapping in your IPT soon, but the extension definition needs to be refreshed in your installation.
Im not sure anymore if that can be done easily with an existing installation that has resources already mapped to that particular extension. If not, you can delete the images extension in the admin section and then reinstall it - that should pick up the latest version:
http://rs.gbif.org/extension/gbif/1.0/images.xml http://rs.gbif.org/extension/gbif/1.0/description.xml
Markus
PS: it will take an hour or so until the changes are visible on our servers, so make sure the rightsHolder term appears in the above links before you update your IPT
