Dear all,
As per Ward´s request, I have set up a Google Drive shared repository with all resources for the collaboration. You should all receive an invite to join.
I have included a new document in the shared repository in the 2026 folder outlining current plans for GBIF regional meetings this year - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VD430u7VEScyvD23vFfIkahQwFHoT18K8a78ULv… as requested in our annual joint meeting. It would be helpful to know which, if any, of these meetings OBIS would like to attend. We cannot cover costs to join the meeting but do offer the opportunity for OBIS nodes to join. It would be good for OBIS to contact me for further info – or keep checking gbif.org/events for the latest information, as the plans for these meetings develop.
Best, Andrew

CAUTION: This email is external from UNESCO. Please be vigilant on its sender and content. ATTENTION : Cet e-mail est externe à l'UNESCO. Soyez vigilant sur son expéditeur et contenu.
The 2 are almost synced in that everyone from OBIS is on there and we have Cecilie, Fede, Tim R and myself on the list from GBIF with the idea that we communicate internally to relevant people on specific actions.
Also been incredibly busy here and everyone has been ill. Slowly moving forward though!
Best, Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Thanks, I appreciate it! I’ll make time to read through items in the work plan and if I have any, add comments from my notes - which I have yet to properly review since our meeting.
It’s been flat out here in February but I’m hoping to find time to focus on GBIF-OBIS collaboration work soon.
Is the gbif-obis(a)lists.gbif.org email list synced with https://app.box.com/folder/365520961653/collaborators?
Cheers,
Katherine

Dear GBIF-OBIS Implementation Group,
I have been working on the outstanding actions and created a folder in our shared repository for work this year called "2026" - https://gbif.box.com/s/vab31nf8kk7q4byjbzare0c28dyjquwt.
In the folder you will find a folder for our January meeting and two new documents. The first I have called OBIS_GBIF_Work_Plan where I have attempted to synthesis our discussions into a number of categories and the actions we expect to undertake under those categories for this year. In this document at the bottom, you will find a URL to a spreadsheet where I am tracking progress towards each of the actions identified at our January meeting. You will find a link(s) to relevant resources for each action, people responsible for those actions, and links to outputs under each action where the action is complete. I was thinking that this could be a good starting point to track our progress and allow us all to keep up to date with activities.
I have also included an Events_2026 file in the shared folder where I have provided details of all events in our calendar for 2026 and who, if anybody, from the GBIF network will be attending those events.
Given that a lot of activities are dependent on the discussions between Pieter and GBIF on his visit (draft agenda to be found in actions spreadsheet), I suggest that we schedule a catch up following his visit to discuss what the next steps would be following his visit. We are currently in the process of confirming dates for his visit, so I will get back to you once that is confirmed on potential dates for our next meeting.
Feedback much appreciated.
Best, Andrew
