Dear Bharat ji,

I certainly find this idea interesting and worth presenting at the Living Data Conference. I am happy to chat about the idea further, in case you feel the need.

Looking forward to your abstract.

Regards,
Vijay

Dear Melissa
Thank you for sharing information about an important event on biodiversity data mobilization.

A very first and crude idea is that we may present biodiversity data mobilization efforts made by national institutions in a least developed country like Nepal whose biodiversity data were mobilized until a decade ago only by the foreign institutions. Thanks to the BIFA program of the GBIF which supported financially and technically to initiate biodiversity data mobilization by Nepalese institutions. Despite significant progress, a huge volume of biodiversity data owned by the government institutions is awaiting mobilization and I see a surprising reluctance of these government institutions in mobilizing biodiversity data.

We can talk around these topics. I am now just wondering if this is of interest to you and the audience of the conference? I am assuming that the session is hybrid and we can make presentations online. I will invite interested researchers who were directly involved in mobilization of biodiversity of Nepal in the GBIF to collaborate in this topic.

Thanking you in advance.

Best regards
Bharat

Dear friends of the GBIF Asia community,

Our team members have collaborated with TaiBIF to host a session "Overcoming Barriers to Biodiversity Data Sharing and Use in Asia: Success Stories and Lesson Learned" (Session ID:
6799127) at Living Data 2025 on 21-24 October in Columbia.

This is a hybrid session, and we would like to highlight the efforts made in Asia. If you have any stories and experiences to share, please don't hesitate to submit abstracts to our session.

Also, the conference is hosted by GEO-BON, GBIF, OBIS, and TDWG this time. It would be a great opportunity to make your achievements more visible, learn more about the latest informatics technology, and communicate with great people around the world!

We look forward to seeing you at the conference.

P.S. The deadline for abstract submission is 20th May.

Best regards,
Melissa and Vijay, the Asia Regional Support Team
